Avian Flu

Can Avian Flue Became Human Flu?

How Widespread is Avian Flu?

Cases of the HPAI A(H5N1) strain have been confirmed in 53 countries to date and on 4 continents: Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania. Tens of millions of birds have died from bird flu and hundreds of millions have been slaughtered to prevent its spread. The disease is most common in poultry and certain types of waterfowl, but has infected many avian species.

The vast spread of the disease is probably due to the poultry trade as well as bird smuggling. Migratory birds are also likely to play a role in the spread of the disease.
